The statistics support this reality. Disposable diapers make up a significant portion of residual waste: a substantial 8% of all residual waste consists of disposable diapers. With an aging population, the share of disposable diapers in residual waste may even increase further.
Therefore, an eco-friendly solution for this waste stream is essential. Repaid has developed a recycling technique that enables the recovery of valuable materials from disposable diapers. The result? A savings of 964 kilograms of CO₂ per ton of diapers processed by a Repaid installation. With an annual production of 400,000 tons of diaper waste in the Netherlands, it's clear that offering this option is crucial.
The logical conclusion is that cloth diapers and the recycling of disposable diapers together must contribute to a more sustainable future. This approach is not only realistic but also inclusive as it provides everyone with the opportunity to make an environmentally friendly choice.
